The Local Alternative to the Marathon!
Join us for a 3-mile hike through Highbridge Park, with its forest-like atmosphere and breathtaking views. We’ll make stops along the way for stretching to work out the kinks and add to the experience. The trail we follow is part of what’s known as the Giraffe Path. And for a special treat, this year our final destination point is The Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling! The museum is not for children only--the exhibits are of interest to everyone. This gem on the edge of Harlem has graciously invited us to culminate our hike in their open-air plaza. Bring a picnic lunch to augment with fresh food from the Saturday Green Market. For more about the Giraffe Path, RING, Swindler Cove, Highbridge, and the Museum see below and visit their websites.
The Plan (times are approximate):
9:30 AM Meet at the RING, the small park where Broadway, Dyckman, and Riverside meet. If you come by subway, it’s just across from the “A” train Dyckman Street stop.
10:00 Arrive at Swindler Cove, a secretly tranquil NYC oasis on the waterfront.
10:30: Leave Swindler Cove and enter Highbridge Park.
11:00 Cross the newly-opened High Bridge to the Bronx side and return to the Manhattan side.
12:30 - 1 pm Arrive at 155th Street and visit the Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art and Storytelling.
