Norovirus causes many people to become sick with vomiting and diarrhea due to an inflammation of the stomach and intestines. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) noroviruses are sweeping the United States.

This infographic from the CDC shows how you can get norovirus.

People with norovirus illness are contagious from the moment they begin feeling sick and for the first few days after they recover. Some people may be contagious for even longer. There is no vaccine to prevent norovirus infection or drug to treat sick people.

Protect yourself and others by following a few simple steps like washing your hands, carefully cleaning fruits and vegetables, not preparing food while infected, cleaning and disinfecting any contaminated surfaces, and washing laundry thoroughly.
