Family-to-Family Course

(Available in English and Spanish) Family-to-Family is NAMI's signature, evidence-based 12-week course for family members of individuals with severe mental illness. The course is taught by trained family members; all instruction and course materials are free for class participants. Available to Spanish-speakers as de Familia a Familia. Research shows that graduates gain a greater understanding of mental illness, are able to cope better, worry less, and feel newly empowered to advocate for better treatment and services for their relative. Class topics include: -- Schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, borderline personality disorder, anxiety disorders, PTSD, dual diagnosis. -- Basics about the brain and mental illness. -- Medication review. -- Problem-solving and communications skills workshops. -- Self-care and advocacy.
